*odd little day at work today. 2001-12-28 11:11 p.m.*

i y-corded today, which is crazy, because that means i just got paid for listening to someone else do surveys for 5 hours. i have to say i would rather have been paid for actually doing surveys, but the darn fools have hired more people than they need. as long as they don't fire me.

anyway.... y-cording. i've done this with 2 other people-- syl who gave me some of her famous christmas snack treat, white trash, and chris, who is an ordained minister in like the universal life church. and today i worked with b. and that was definitely the most interesting. he and the two people on either side of him are like a bunch of middle schoolers. they stick notes on each other's backs, throw things at each other, and try and make each other laugh while doing surveys. meanwhile, b was carrying on a paper airplane romance with the woman across from him (i assure you these people are all at least in their 40's). anyway... so meanwhile, my one job was to do the messages, if we got any answering machines. well, at one point, b forgot to mute his microphone, so while i was blathering about how this was not a sales call and where they could reach us, the answering machine was also picking up his neighbor talking about lifesavers and saying, "yeah, she asked if she could have cherry, and i said, 'i don't have my cherry, but i still have the box it came in.'" go team go!

(the sad thing, is that i think i may have accidentally left mine on mute... so that conversation is the only thing that they got.)
