*c'mon baby, kick those boxes! 2002-04-02 3:58 p.m.*

"The Cottons are all right," retorted Davy. "And they have far better times than we have. They dojust as they please and say just what they like before everybody. I'm going to do that too, after this."

"There are lots of things you wouldn't dare say before everybody," averred Dora.

"No, there isn't."

"There is, too. Would you," demanded Dora gravely," would you say 'tomcat' before the minister?"

This was a staggerer. Davy was not prepared for such a concrete example of the freedom of speech. But one did not have to be consistent with Dora.

"Of course not," he admitted sulkily. "'Tomcat' isn't a holy word. I wouldn't mention such an animal before a minister at all."

"But if you had to?" persisted Dora.

"I'd call it a Thomas pussy," said Davy.

"I think 'gentleman cat' would be more polite," reflected Dora.

-Anne of the Island, by L. M. Montgomery

just thought i'd share. i just went to the 4 winds and read 50 pages of that book. such yummy cozy stuff. it makes me very happy.

still crampy and bloody and gross feeling. i really wanted to wimp out on kickboxing this morning, hoping that when i reset the alarm for later and later it would somehow accidentally not go off and i could miss it with a clear conscience. but it kept going off, and i finally got up, got dressed, did a little too much online piddlyness, grabbed an apple, and walked towards campus. i totally knew i was going to be late, when to my surprise a familiar station wagon with gay pride stickers and an upside down american flag pulled into a parking lot i was passing. it was death fag who drove me the rest of the way to campus. i miss being neighbors with him. we chatted and i shielded my half eaten apple from the smoke of his cigarette, and hopped out and walked towards jennifer connelly's room. she was just coming out of dortstein when i got to the parking lot so we walked to the fitness center from there together. i did okay, trying to take it a little easy on myself without totally wimping out. any sort of bending overness left me a little dizzy and washedout feeling, but i made it and only needed one extra water break. and then i felt really good and tough afterwards, that i had conquerred the crimson wave and kicked those boxes.

anyway... after lazing around in jennifer connelly's room for awhile, i got a ride with her as far as the library and then went down to the 4 winds. i saw glama and moose again and told them about how tired we were and everything the night at perkins and they assured me that michael and i are not weird girls, and moose showed me that she still has her green bird. and i complimented 3rd customer of the week on one of the recent bits of origami she made for the 4 winds and as she left, she gave me a similar piece, which was superexciting. and i just had some coziness and now i'm trying to mentally prep myself for 5 hours on the phone. haven't done that in ages folks.
